Included are pictures of the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, the view from the foot of the bed in the upstairs master bedroom, the very odd front door and "found rusty object assemblage" (mandatory in Northern New Mexico) and the kitchen door.
The home is 2360 square feet with three bedrooms, two baths , an office area and a large open area from the kitchen to the dining room then great room. The upstairs bedroom opens onto a rooftop deck.Adobe construction( in some places the walls are three feet thick) encased in insulation. Between the thermal mass and the solar gain, the house really performs. So far this winter I have used less than 100 gallons of propane and the home has been quite warm. The heat is all radiant and the boiler is rated at 95% efficiency.

Tobias, this is JaxInL.A. from Rexworld. I tapped on your name and saw your blog. My heavens, you live in an extraordinary place. I imagine that you did the tile work and all the wood yourself. It must be a privilege to live in such a work of natural and man made art. I can't imagine making the decision to leave it. I hope that the reason is not a sad one.
ReplyDeleteI came here to offer condolences on the loss of your companion. It is unspeakably hard to lose something that affects your life so intimately.
P.S. I, too, despise sports clues.
What a magnificent place! I love all the materials - wood, stone, stucco. And what a beautiful setting. I feel serene and warm just looking at the photos.
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck with the sale.
‘Tita’ is right, a magnificent house, indeed! The shades of brown give it an earthier look. Two good points of your house is its thermal mass, and solar gain. It is an advantage during winter and summer. Wish you luck on your sale!

Thanks for the encouragement! Earthy is exactly what I was going for with this home.
